On a Mission to Electrify South L.A. One House at a Time

Welcome to the Greenhouse: The first all-electric house in South L.A.

a hub for clean energy, green jobs, and community power.

Our Mission

We believe every family deserves a safe, healthy, and sustainable home, no matter their ZIP code. That’s why we transformed our 100-year-old South Los Angeles Craftsman into a fully electrified, working model of what the clean energy future can look like right here in our own neighborhood. This house is more than a demonstration site; it’s a community space where residents can learn, connect, explore new technologies, and imagine what’s possible for their own homes and families.

For decades, South L.A. has been excluded from the economic and health benefits of clean energy. We’re changing that narrative. Home electrification should not be a privilege reserved for affluent neighborhoods, it must be accessible, affordable, and community-led. Electrifying homes saves money, protects our health, reduces pollution, and proves that South Los Angeles is not waiting to be invited into the clean energy future. We are building it ourselves, Electrify South L.A.

About Us

Green House South L.A. was founded as a grassroots, community-rooted nonprofit by Wendy Salvador, a South Central native committed to environmental justice and youth empowerment, and Ken Galbraith, an electrical contractor specializing in home electrification and the clean energy revolution. Together, this husband-and-wife team recognized that South L.A. families deserved access to the same clean, healthy, and affordable energy upgrades available in wealthier neighborhoods and decided to build a model that starts change right at home in South Central L.A.
